MX-21 Cherrytree update

#1 Post by joejac »

Hello,
The first thing I want is to say thanks, MX-21 is very aesthetic, is a joy to the eyes.
The second Cherrytree stable version is 0.99.42 but in MX-21 repository is still 0.99.38-4, I appreciate the upgrade to the latest stable version.

Thanks a lot.
Best regards

Our current version is already ahead of Debian Stable’s version. I downloaded the source pakages for 0.99.41 from Debian Bookworm the other day and will get to it when I have time this weekend.

I am going to backport against Debian versions unless there is a critical bug in them, I’m not going to chase upstream developer versions as the 4 of us that package are already overloaded enough as it is.

@joejac I just sent it up for inclusion in the MX-21 Test Repo, it'll take a day or two to get added and populate across mirrors.

I get a message that is not safe to install from Test Repos, Should I wait until is in the Official Repos, or is fine?

@joejac if you are using MX Package Installer it "should" be safe to install Cherrytree from there.

That warning message is there to let users know that the software in there has only had limited testing so far.

I tested it and now others have, it won't get moved to Stable until more users test and confirmed its ok, but it won't break you system to install it now.
Worse case something with Cherrytree doesn't work properly (small bug), best case you have no issues and let us know.

Thanks a lot, SwampRabbit, I will install it right now, I have a 1GB notes file, so I will test almost all day, especially the search function that sometimes blocked the previous MX 19.3 with Cherrytree 0.99.39. I will tell you how my test results.
Have a good day or night, I do not know.
