What's with MXlinux Firefox v94.

At Mozilla their current release is still v93. (firefox-93.0.tar.bz2)
There is not a stable release of Ff v94 yet.
There is a beta Ff v94.

The package details I installed/updated are labeled/noted as a mxlinux package Firefox v94.
This is on Mxlinux 19.4 KDE

Can any one "please explain"

Cheers NH

This is MX's ninety-fourth version of Firefox, not Mozilla's. Here's how the process works:

Mozilla releases a new version of Firefox --> Debian adapts it to work with its current stable release --> the MX developers adapt it again to ensure that it will work properly with MX's latest version before releasing it to us, the end users.

Latest notes for 94.0 aren't out yet. This is the first time I've been able to pull down a new release and had no info about it up at mozilla. This upgrade seemed to behave much like the previous 6 or 7 releases with the select theme, etc on startup and a pseudo required refresh.

94.0 is in their repo so I don't know why they haven't pushed it out or published the release notes. Thunderbird has a habit of dragging its feet for getting notes out but not FF.

I check regularly for new releases and if one shows up, download the source, build it and test it and if it doesn't break anything, send it up.

Well there you go Mike,

MXlinux is even a head of Mozilla (well a head it seams), thank you Mike.
Just checked Moz again and now they are now showing firefox-94.0.tar.bz2

They weren't 12 hours ago... when you had v94 out, had me confused.

Even the windows box I'm forced to used at the moment is "now" offering Ff v94 (it wasn"t before) and wasn't when I posted this inquiry.

Well explained, love your work, thank you. :number1:  :toast:

@Nix Hard Could you just tick post #4 as the solution? (rather than #1, ... assuming you agree that was the solution / explanation) :)
