MX team has done it again!

#1 Post by JuhaT »

I have done a fresh install of MX-21 KDE. There were some problems first since Noveau driver doesnt support new GPU's (Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti in my case) Installing the Nvidia driver after installing MX on the hard drive didnt work, computer couldnt boot due to some conflict with network driver as I understood it. I dont know why, but it was no problem installing the Nvidia driver in the persistent live ISO and then install the ISO on the hard drive and the Nvidia driver was installed with it..
Now after running MX-21 a couple of weeks after configuring the installation the way I want, I can only conclude that the team has done an outstanding job again. Everything just works. Well done! :number1:

Thanks for the review and for sticking with it even though you had initial problems with the video driver.

The video driver problem isnt caused by MX, it happens with all distros I tested (debian based at least) which doesnt install the proprietary driver during install, so of course I'll stay. It took a little thinking and experimenting to solve, but it is only good to jog your brain once in a while :)

That sometimes happens (just a blinking cursor on top-left after Nvidia driver installation). Once you delete the created xorg.conf file in /etc/X11/ everything gets fine :)
