10/100 Adapter Not Recognized

#1 Post by fishmanloveslinux »

No matter what I do I cannot get MX Linux to recognize my 10/100 ethernet adapter. I have combed through the archives and have not yet to find a solution.
Does anyone have a solution for this?

I think that you should use MXPI to install the antix 4.9 kernel as it is more likely to contain the proper driver for such an old card. After it is installed, reboot and use the Advanced options in Grub to select it. If the card is now recognized, you can use Boot Options in MX Tools to make it the permanent kernel choice.

HP 17; ryzen 3 3200; 500 GB SSD; 12 GB ram

In Linux, newer isn't always better. The best solution is the one that works.

If an ethernet connection is your only option with that laptop, you could search your local market for an adaptor like this one:

In Linux, newer isn't always better. The best solution is the one that works.

I wanted to let you know that the 4.9 didn't help but it was worth a try. However, I did order one of those from Amazon for $18 + shipping. At least I have wireless connection. I just prefer wired is all. I really do appreciate your help.
