HP Smart Printers
HP Smart Printers
I'm interested in getting a new printer to replace my HP Envy 4500. I'm still using the 4500 but the scanner is kaput. I've had good success with HP printers and Linux but am concerned about their new smart(?) printers that require an internet connection for setup and use. Anyone have experience using one of these printers or can recommend a replacement for the Envy 4500 printer/scanner?

Re: HP Smart Printers
Running the Envy 5540 with no problems on MX 19 and tested on 21.

The HP Developers' Portal lists every HP printer and how well they work with Linux:

The current installed version of HPLIP in MX is 3.21.4. Try to select a printer that requires this version or an earlier one.

HP 15; ryzen 3 5300U APU; 500 Gb SSD; 8GB ram
HP 17; ryzen 3 3200; 500 GB SSD; 12 GB ram
Idea Center 3; 12 gen i5; 256 GB ssd;
In Linux, newer isn't always better. The best solution is the one that works.
