Hopping...and always back home!

Here you can post about what you did to get MX to work right with your computer or if hardware worked right out of the box for you. This is for the computers and/or hardware that is normally hard to get working right in Linux or MX.

Hopping...and always back home!

#1 Post by grelos »

Sometimes I get bored of MX mainly because packages are not really the last releases and I want to try something newer and fresher.
Lately I have been hopping quite a bit, moving to opensuse tumbleweed then fedora (33 and 34) then manjaro: all of them were okish and with much newer packages than MX. But alongside the newest packages, many issues, from annoying small ones to bigger ones (yes, opensuse..looking at you.. :beach: ).

End story short: back to MX, but KDE flavor now. No issues, everything works out of the box and if there is an issue, it's generally easy to fix. I'd only wish Plasma 5.2 was available since it's a big step ahead of Plasma 5.15.

Thank you MX Devs!

@grelos thanks for sharing, let us know in the Package Request section of the forum if your looking for something newer that we can package. No promises, but we try, and remember check the MX Test Repo from time to time.
