Oh, by the way, we have a nice button that looks like a checkmark that's available in each post that you can use to mark the thread "solved" in consistent way, please
don't edit manually the subject of the threat, there's an easier and nicer way to do it.
Thanks!

Is there a difference if I mark as solved from the first post, and if I "accept" an answer?

Clicking on checkmarks is not very Linux-y. Is there a bash script we can grab with curl and edit in vim or emacs that we can use to mark our posts as solved instead?

Ah so, solved of a solved of another solved equates resolved (checkmark)?

Whichever post in the topic is checked {Solved] will cause the topic to have
[Solved] added to the the overall topic title. However it is preferred that the post giving the solution is the one marked, as makes good sense.

As Rich explained, also if you select the proper response that solved the problem when you browse the thread you see only that post with the [Solved] tag so it's easier for somebody else to find the solution...
For example in this thread I tagged Rich's post.
