How to set up a limited user account

#1 Post by rob.chaffe »

I'm donating an older computer to a family for the kids to do zoom schooling.
I could use some help setting up a limited account for each child.
MX has a handy User Manager tool, but I'm not sure how to make the most of it.
Obviously uncheck sudo in Group Membership; so many other settings I don't understand.
Any help would be much appreciated. TIA.

the Normal User Account is somewhat limited, anyway,
and if those New users are Not able to sudo anything,
and you have the only access to both your sudo account & the root account,
then there should be limited stuff that they can do with the machine.
Please use the check-mark icon to include [SOLVED] - when your problem is solved!
and DO LOOK at those Unanswered Topics - - you may be able to answer some!.

See https://wiki.debian.org/SystemGroups for an explanation of the various system groups to assist you in deciding which ones you can safely remove the children's membership to.
Please read the Forum Rules, How To Ask For Help, How to Break Your System and Don't Break Debian. Always include your full Quick System Info (QSI) with each and every new help request.
