(Solved) Invalid Partition Table ! dual booting MX Linux and Peppermint Linux [Solved]
Hi,
Latest 64 bit KDE MX Linux updated
I did something wrong. I deleted a partition where an OS I did not like was and on reboot I get this Invalid partition table warning. When I strike the enter key I do go to a working GRUB which has the 2 OS on it. I have booted into both Peppermint and MX Linux and used both of the repair boot tools and tried to fix GRUB with them but GRUB does not seem to be the problem as it works just fine once I hit enter to get to it.
can you help ?

Did you run sudo update-grub in a terminal?

Yes. several times.
GRUB does not seem to be the issue

Re: Invalid Partition Table ! dual booting MX Linux and Peppermint Linux
I think there is a possibility that I have GRUB or GRUBs installed in more than one place ? It seems to me that one of the OS might have a GRUB in its root and there appears to be on in the MBR. I do not really know what I am talking about... but if that sounds feasible and a feasible problem perhaps worth pursuing.
I wonder if deleting the manjaro partition caused the problem. It's GRUB was the one being used I think. I deleted the partiton because I was having issues with the OS, did not like it at all and earlier today, for no reason GRUB started booting directly into Manjaro either from reboot or from shudown so that I could not boot into MX or Peppermint. I did absolutely nothing to change that - this feature of bypassing GRUB and going directly into Manjaro happened on its own and was persistent through many boots and reboots. In frustration I deleted the partiton with a live USB MX Linux and here we are

Boot your MX live USB and use the MX Boot Repair tool to reinstall grub.

GRUB is not the problem
I have done that at least 4 times between the MX tool and a similar one in Peppermint Linux. As I said in my posts, GRUB works just fine once i hit enter after the inavlid partion table black screen

Can you take a picture showing the error message and post it?

"Invalid Partition Table!"
Is the white text error message on a black screen where GRUB should be. If I hit enter then I get to the GRUB screen.

Re: Invalid Partition Table ! dual booting MX Linux and Peppermint Linux
what do sudo fdisk -l and lsblk show? (Please post the results of those commands inside of code tags using the </> button in the forum editor before pasting.)
Edit: also please run Quick System Info from the menu in MX then right-click paste in a reply (don't copy/paste.)
