Please add Librewolf to repository
Librewolf is arguably the best browser for privacy since it follows Firefox latest versions, remove the bad mozilla stuff and tweak it further for privacy.
It would be great for MX Linux to have it in its repository. There is a flatpak version.
Thank you very much for you great work!

It needs cargo >= 0.46 to build from source, which is not available to us on a Buster base.
Their Appimage is easy to download and run on MX, though! https://gitlab.com/librewolf-community/ ... -/releases

Re: Please add Librewolf to repository
I installed the .deb on an antiX Sid installation last week to try it out. I used to use LibreWolf back when I was using the Arch-based Artix distro and I could pull it from the AUR, but haven't used it since I've been on MX and antiX. LibreWolf is pretty good, but honestly I personally like a different libre firefox fork better - it's called 'abrowser' by the Trisquel distro. The .deb installs and runs perfectly on MX, you can find it from the Trisquel package mirror if you like: https://archive.trisquel.info/trisquel/ ... f/firefox/
Currently the latest version of abrowser is 84.0.2, so the link for 64-bit would be https://archive.trisquel.info/trisquel/ ... _amd64.deb, and the link for 32-bit would be https://archive.trisquel.info/trisquel/ ... 7_i386.deb.
abrowser does take all the firefox extensions from the mozilla add-ons website, at least the ones I've tried.

They also have an appimage which doesn't require you to have a flatpack runtime. Download the appimage, right-click on it and go to the Properties/Permissions tab, check the box to allow it to run as an executable program, and from then on just click or double-click on it to run it. It's only 76MB too.

Images require a whole rodeo to put into the menu.Currently in PaleMoon for my second browser
Re: Please add Librewolf to repository
Their deb is built on Debian Sid on the OBS by bgstack, so isn't compatible with MX.
However, I looked at what needs to be done to backport cargo from testing, and it looks possible, so I may try that in the next couple days, which should make LW buildable from source.
A problem with LW would be its frequent updates, which would take a lot of my precious and scarce packaging time. I'm already doing two different versions of Pale Moon now, each with five different builds, as well as several different builds of Waterfox.
Maybe I can farm out our builds to the OBS also, but the farming out also consumes time...

Stevo, thank you very much for giving your valuable for the community! I understand that it is a lot of work.
I dare say that since Waterfox has been bought by an online ad company, an adversary to online privacy, it's advised not to use it.
Librewolf really seems to be the best privacy centered Firefox based option since as you say it gets frequent updates (follows the ones of Firefox contrary to Palemoon), that's a big plus for security.
It would be great if its team would maintain a build based on Debian stable

Yeah...they really don't even build it for Sid, since bgstack is just a hobbyist like me AFAIK.
Ubuntu has backports of cargo for older releases--I'll try porting those, since they include changes to build on older packages that Debian does not add, which leads to a build failure.
