Greetings...and a simple Wine question

First off...hello to Jerry and RichB and all the other folks whose names I recognize.
(I've been inactive here for quite a few years...I'm from the Mepis days.)

Congrats for having risen to top of DistroWatch ! (I did install MX Linux 6 months or so ago, on
an old laptop, but I managed fine without needing help here in the forum.)

Ok...my WIne-related query: I've become quite involved with chromebooks and Chrome OS, and
run the Linux-beta there. It works quite well.

I'm looking for a few suggestions for Windows-apps that work well under Wine and are popular
and 'must-have' for WIne users. Anyone have a short list of suggestions?

Thx in advance...

This is a hard question to answer, due to personal taste, and because there are now equivalent Linux programs for almost every Windows program I have ever used. However, I still use Faststone image viewer/editor which, with a bit of care, runs well. I also use Irfanview, which is great for printing documents (rescaling, stretching, positioning etc), quick document conversion and excellent image editing features.

In general, portable apps are the best choice for WINE programs, as they have all dependencies installed. PortableApps.com gives a good selection of popular, well designed applications which have stood the test of time.

Now I have also used Office 2007/2012 ish which, if it loads, runs acceptably well. BTW, the wine website has a list of programs which run well.

Thx, Geek. That did it.
