Previous Update Question

#1 Post by Dugrath »

Hello everyone

So this is the first time I may have to use this, and would like just some updated information BEFORE I do it, or if I will just wait for an update. I had this issue before where my battery on my t460s would shutdown at 50% when switching from bat0 to bat1. Since this last set of updates I am having this problem again. I had initially fixed the issue with a TLP update from the MXTest Repo a few months ago. It was only a few days ago that I did this update and not sure what would have caused the issue to come back.

Code: Select all

Upgrade: mx-viewer:amd64 (19.10.01, 20.12.01), libsystemd0:amd64 (1:241-7~deb10u4+mx19, 1:241-7~deb10u5+mx19), live-usb-maker:amd64 (0.4.6mx19+2, 0.4.6mx19+3), python-apt-common:amd64 (1.8.4.2, 1.8.4.3), udev:amd64 (1:241-7~deb10u4+mx19, 1:241-7~deb10u5+mx19), python-lxml:amd64 (4.3.2-1+deb10u1, 4.3.2-1+deb10u2), libudev1:amd64 (1:241-7~deb10u4+mx19, 1:241-7~deb10u5+mx19), mx-installer:amd64 (20.11, 20.12), libdatetime-timezone-perl:amd64 (1:2.23-1+2020d, 1:2.23-1+2020e), mx-iso-template:amd64 (20.10.06, 20.12.03), libnss-myhostname:amd64 (1:241-7~deb10u4+mx19, 1:241-7~deb10u5+mx19), mx-snapshot:amd64 (20.12, 20.12.01), python-apt:amd64 (1.8.4.2, 1.8.4.3), libpam-systemd:amd64 (1:241-7~deb10u4+mx19, 1:241-7~deb10u5+mx19), systemd:amd64 (1:241-7~deb10u4+mx19, 1:241-7~deb10u5+mx19), libwebkit2gtk-4.0-37:amd64 (2.30.3-1~deb10u1, 2.30.4-1~deb10u1), mx-live-usb-maker:amd64 (20.10, 20.12.01), mx-packageinstaller:amd64 (20.11.02, 20.12), gir1.2-webkit2-4.0:amd64 (2.30.3-1~deb10u1, 2.30.4-1~deb10u1), python3-lxml:amd64 (4.3.2-1+deb10u1, 4.3.2-1+deb10u2), libjavascriptcoregtk-4.0-18:amd64 (2.30.3-1~deb10u1, 2.30.4-1~deb10u1), python3-apt:amd64 (1.8.4.2, 1.8.4.3), gir1.2-javascriptcoregtk-4.0:amd64 (2.30.3-1~deb10u1, 2.30.4-1~deb10u1), tzdata:amd64 (2020d-0+deb10u1, 2020e-0+deb10u1), mx-user:amd64 (20.12, 20.12.01)

So my question is with timeshift, I have a snapshot from 2 days prior to the update, will this then correct my issue and with that? I have timeshift set to exclude /root and /home/user does this mean that it will ONLY reinstall the system files of the 27th? I would then need to have a backup of all my /home files on a separate drive if I wanted them again after using timeshift? If that's the case, I can do a backup and then reinstall it of course. Will I also have to reinstall anything else or should everything else still be in place, programs and docks and such?

Please excuse me if this has been answered multiple times before. I did look through but didn't find exactly what I was looking for.

Thank you for your time.

Who knows? Try it and see. If it corrects the issue you can pin that package at its current version in Synaptic to prevent it being updated again.
