Which program do you use to edit your screenshots made with the default MX xfce4-screenshooter program? (Please do not suggest another screenshooter)

It depends on what editing is needed. For most things, Nomacs will do it for me.
BTW, my screenshot program is HotShots, which also has some editing capability.

I use pinta. It's what I'm already used to.

I use gimp on almost every image editing, but I know how to use gimp. Most might recommend pinta, so go with that.

Pinta from test repository?
Not bad!

Gimp. I have used it for years so have good knowledge of the common functions.

Surely that isn't the default screenshot program for XFCE nor MX?
If I have to open another program to edit a screenshot, I usually just open krita which I have as an Appimage in my shared data partition for all distros. I just copy the desktop file to /.local/share/applications and run it.
You might also want to try azpainter. I tested it a few time previously and found it easy to work out how to use.
viewtopic.php?f=140&t=55880 (not sure if it's still in the Test repo or now in Main repo)
PS. Most of the time I use ksnip though, because it has nice editing functions for a screenshot program.

Am using a script which calls 'scrot' to take the screenshot, save it to ~/.screenshots folder -- and automatically open it in an image editor. Gimp is my preferred editor.
The key-combo determines the screengrab ('PrtSc' for full desk / 'Ctrl+PrtSc' for 5s delay / 'Winkey+PrtSc' for active window / 'Alt+PrtSc' to select area)

Ksnip does have good basic editing capabilities. I do use it for annotating the screenshot, (arrows, text, highlighting, etc).

You're right! I put it forward as a proposal, but it wasn't taken up. I have it on my Snapshot that gets installed multiple times, and had forgotten. I will edit my post.
(Maybe the OP's query makes a case for it to be default?)

I use Gimp for everything, but sometimes I do get annoyed with its load time when I only want to crop and save as lower quality jpeg. If muscle memory doesn't lead me straight to Gimp, I use KolourPaint.
PS: I know you said not to suggest another screenshot program, but once I switched to flameshot, I can get cropped screenshots easier, and I use Kolourpaint less and less.

richb,
I have been struggling with Pinta to annotate screenshots, ksnip is just what I have been looking for!
Thanks for sharing your experience here.

I have hardly used the xfce4 screenshooter, but Scrot and my preferred image editing.
Otherwise, when it comes to editability, there is either Hotshots or Flameshot, and for some time now Shutter again.

Okay, I won't.
With xfce4-screenshooter, I go with the default nomacs.

Hello Duliwi and Everyone
take a screenshot of a screenshot.
Ancient thinking
image crop and resize can be achieved
opening in browser; fit or zoom in browser; rectangle select a new xfcescreenshot
to crop and or resize.
In MX, Graphics Applications, more sophisticated manipulation can be handled in any of the image viewing and editing applications installed or available. These days you can use the firefox screenshot tool once open in firefox or ask firefox for a print preview to get a new rectangle screenshot of a preview thumbnail, but let's just stick with xfce screenshot (?) is the basis of topic; and really nomacs can do many adjustments; just knowing browser and xfcescreenshot is enough in many cases.
When is 3d screencapture? only in virtual machine? joking.
To fill the gap between ancient thinking and today I have used pinta. Which do You like? The latest image viewers incorporate more edit tools than previous versions. The edit gap increases being flexible with recent change with edit in image viewer capability, graphics of all capacities. MX has fantastic imaging applications. [fantastic iso imaging too but that's another outstanding story]
In the spirit of ceeslans, sharing two commands either can be put on a launcher. or runnr exec command history; however You roll.
saved import is fullscreen immediate; saved scrot is Cursor select visible area (fullscreen or window or rectangle.)
The image attach shows original image size opened in nomacs.
(So bypass the open in nomacs for example)
When opened in firefox browser the image view is altered for example.
Take a rectangle new xfcescreenshot of the firefox view.
