Hi. The above lap top is available very cheaply on Amazon, almost too good a price to be true in fact (so it probably isn't)! Before I "invest" several hundred Euros in it I want to be sure that MX (or any othe Linux disto') will run on it but it seems there are few references to it on the 'interscreen'.

Unfortunately I can't run inxi to display the usual information required to help to get an accurate reliable answer, I can only add the 'bare bones' information below:-

MSI Modern 14 A10RB-663XES
Comet lake i7-10510u processor
ddr iv 16gb (2666mhz) memory.
512 gb nvme pcie ssd
geforce mx250, 2gb gddr5 graphics card
operating system free dos (yay no 'windows tax’)

My only concern is the support for the Nvidia Geforce mx250, 2gb gddr5 graphics card", does anyone know if the the latest MX or ahs kernel supports this particular video card?

Thanks.

At least I can say 435 was available with 5.2.15 here

(Though comparing the chip numbers would be more accurate)

Device-2: NVIDIA GP108M [GeForce MX250] vendor: Hewlett-Packard driver: nvidia
v: 435.21 bus ID: 06:00.0 chip ID: 10de:1d13

... Was also mentioned here by toxil

... And here by MAYBL8

Isn't it an Optimus system that by default uses the tenth-gen Intel GPU? That would require use of the AHS/KDE editions, since Debian Buster is too old for it in the standard MX 19.

The proprietary Nvidia driver in AHS is being updated pretty often, so that shouldn't be any obstacle.

Some MSI laptops may require a little tweaking in the "BIOS" in order for it to see the MX efi file if you choose that route, but it may be in legacy mode if it only ships with FreeDos.
