It's ridiculous that I should even have to ask this question, but here goes. I'm running MX Linux 19.2 XFCE, pretty standard install. I wanted to play around with using system sounds and doing some customization. I've had no problem figuring out how to use custom sound files for logon and logoff, and change system sound themes. The problem I have is that regardless of what file is selected for the logoff sound, when I logoff, I only hear the very beginning of the file before alsa is shut down. I haven't included boring configuration data in this post, because I already know it has nothing to do with hardware. I also have MX Linux 19.2 on a laptop with completely different hardware, and it does the same thing. As fast as MX Linux splits to the login screen when you log out, I'm guessing a solution would require delaying the logout process to allow the logoff sound to play. Any ideas?
Edit: I had installed 19.2, but it automatically updated to 19.3 at some point. Like I said, I'm not posting system info, because I'm not even going to get into irrelevant discussions about hardware and settings. This issue is particular to XFCE. Other DEs, such as Cinnamon don't have this problem. If you're just going to tell me to post my quick system info, don't bother.

Re: Really dumb sound issue
We need your Quick System Info regardless. Any number of things could be causing this that your QSI may show.
Please read the Forum Rules, How To Ask For Help, How to Break Your System and Don't Break Debian. Always include your full Quick System Info (QSI) with each and every new help request.

Re: Really dumb sound issue
If this actually matters to anyone else, here's the solution... Install the Cinnamon DE from the MX Test Repo and use it instead of XFCE. Cinnamon has much better customization for system sounds, anyway. And it waits until the logoff sound plays before logging off.
