Anyone install Gramps 5.1.3 error free?

#1 Post by mbmalone »

I installed Gramps 5.1.3 on Linux Mint 20 with no issues, but installing 5.1.2 on MX complained of some missing plugin parts on launch. Had something to do with geolocation and I probably don't need it anyway, but was looking for a clean error-free install.

Any suggestions?

I only see Gramps 5.0.1-1 in the MX repository. If you want a newer version I suggest you ask for it to be packaged for MX and added to the repos.

To request new or updated software packages be added to the MX Repositories, please read these instructions first, then post your request in the appropriate Package Requests/Status subforum for your version of MX: 19, 17/18 or 15/16.

Re: geolocation you could install geoclue-2.0 from the stable repo (MX Package Installer) and see if that satisfies the dependency.

As JayM explained we don’t have the version you are trying to install, so we need to know from where you got it, and how you tried to install it.

Also, again we need the actual errors that are presented.

We also ask for folks to post their Quick System Info because it gives us needed information sooner rather than later.

5.1.2 is in buster-backports, so could be easily installed with MX PI.

The problem is probably due to the Recommended packages not being installed on MX, where Debian assumes they will by default. I'll backport 5.1.3 to our test repo with that fixed if no other packager beats me to it, otherwise you could try reinstalling it from MXPI with the option to install the recommended packages turned on.
