How much of that is personal files? Almost all of it, right? As such, it's not meaningful.

How big are each of your operating system directories?

Code: Select all

sudo du -h --max-depth=0 /bin /boot /dev /etc /lib /lib64 /lost+found /opt /root /run /run /sbin /sys /tmp /usr /var
You can add /home or any other personal directories you may have created for personal files. This will give you a good idea of what's going on below the water line.

10 GB is big enough for the OS. 16 GB makes more sense giving a little room to grow in. Keep most of your personal files somewhere else just for the sake of easy management and not wasting real-estate.

That's interesting since the lower end Chromebooks which only have 16Gb cannot install some Linux for lack of space. ChromeOS maintains a provision on the drive leaving only about 10Gb.

Greetings All

Largest installation would appear to be right in the MSFT vaporware arena
By contrast my smallest installation is a mere 1.85GB ... :number1: :number1:
5GB is all that's required for these 'mini-testing' O/S's
Admittedly, from one of our smaller, more infamous Respins
Personal data is always elsewhere - for all the obvious reasons

Regards

Jack
