Please post your feedback here about our MX-Base Personal Respin ISO's recently announced in our blog.
  • MX-19.2_x64.iso - Xfce 64-bit
  • MX-19.2_base_386.iso - Xfce 32-bit
  • MX-19.2_flux_base_386.iso - Fluxbox 32-bit
We'd love to hear how you might use them in Single use/purpose environments, or how you might put them to work.

I might try MX-19.2_x64.iso - Xfce 64-bit. One of the first thing I do on a new install is to un-install all the things I never use.

I think that should be MX-19.2_base_x64.iso. the name without the base is our usual full version.

I've just been on the download page and it says:
This is a personal respin, it's not officially supported by MX Linux.

It's meant to be a "Swiss Army knife" type of Linux running live mostly for sysadmins and people
who want to have a highly customizable Live USB/DVD that is able to run different recovery and admin tools.

This ISO is NOT meant for installation. While this is possible, it's not recommended, especially that
for convenience purpose sudo is configured to give full access without a password.
I was hoping to install it on a hp compaq nx6310. It's running Lubuntu nicely (if a little slow). The laptop gets used as 'youtube' laptop for my dad to watch his playlist videos. Nothing else. Ive tried the antiX base but it woudln't install and didn't come with xfce.

Secondly, I've clicked on the 19.2_base x64.iso link but it doesn't go through with the download. It takes me to the 'your download will start shortly', but then after the countdown it brings me back to the 'Browse Files' page. No download/save dialog box.

I get the same thing. There's only one mirror right now, JZT KFT in Hungary. which may be having problems We may need to wait a day for more mirrors to be available.

That's MX Workbench's description, not MX BAse. Have you clicked on the correct link?

Yep, same thing here... I reported this on the post about the release of that spin, too...

It's going to be a looooooong wait! LOL. In the meantime: How do we get sudo to run with a password (for desktop use purposes)?

Thanks for the heads up. I apologise for the errors in the direct download links. I would have fixed them sooner, but I had a 7 hour drive to complete.

The Direct download links have been fixed, though the sourceforge link above them would have worked just fine and is in fact the better choice so users can download the signature and checksum files along with the ISO's ;)
