I noticed something strange. Maybe it is a bug. Or I just do not get how this works.

When you right-click on a desktop, desktop settings, you can define the background image to by displayed. By default you are in the directory /usr/share/background where a selection of art work is available.

I have two monitors and four virtual desktops set that actually give me 8 desktops that can be set. You set the background image of the desktop you wish to setup by moving the settings window to that desktop. And then selecting an image as background.

When I move that window to HDMI1 , desktop 1 , I have all artwork.

When moved to HDMI2, desktop 1 only the 3 images of xfce , the mouse background, it available. When I manually go to /usr/share/background the files are grey. Can not use them. Like I have no read rights.

This behavior alternates.
YES = all artwork is available
NO = only the xfce mouse images

Work-around

Just go to the directory /usr/share/background with thunar on the desktop you wish to set. All artwork is readable on any desktop. Right-click the image you wish to use as the background image for that desktop and select the 'set as desktop' option.

I think you would need to select the folder "background", not an individual image file. The images are than displayed as thumbnails to select from.

Yes, I do. - When I do that, manually selected the directory 'background' no images, no thumbnails are shown.

On some desktops it opens normal. Have access to 'background'. Other not. It's open in xfce directory and it is not possible to access the files in 'background'.

Do not understand it. Looks like the configuration window on some desktops has not read access to 'background' directory and on some it does.
