Hi Guys, I'm looking for any recommendations please.
I've got data on dvd's and usb sticks as well as old hard drives. Photos, videos and documents have been corrupted on several devices. Could anybody recommend a program on mx 19 that i could use to interrogate these media sources and recover data please.

TestDisk is quite good. I used it recently and managed to recover data that some other programs could not.

+1 for photorec (part of the testdisk suite). despite its name, it will try to recover other files besides picture files.

I've saved many photographer's bacon with that tool...nothing like recovering several GB of wedding photos to make you look like a super hero.

Storage media is always going to degrade or die sometime. To be safer, backup everything and then backup the backups.
If you only have one copy, treat it as a temporary file because one day it won't be there.

@sunrat...why not go one step further and suggest backing up to a Google drive account ?

Google is the last place I'd use for backup. I do have an account at Box.com which currently holds several MB of my most important data.

Been using Google Drive and Dropbox for years. I have no concerns with either .

I totally agree with sunrat. You don't own those external cloud resources, and if you don't pay for them, you don't even have a contract. Someday, they just won't be there; no explanation required.
