Anyone Not Use Flash?

#1 Post by KBD »

I'm wondering how necessary it is at this point. Also how much system resources it uses when running in a browser.

Mrs. HoaS still uses it for FaceBook games but not for long:

That's more than a little scary. Aren't Firefox and Chrome supposed to drop it altogether in the near future?

adobe is dropping at the end of the year. I assume firefox and chrome will stop enabling by default before that. I think its already limited in chrome, and possibly firefox.

Google Chrome disables flash by default. It can be enabled temporarily on a web page or a web page can be white listed in settings.

I don't have it installed. Not for some time now and haven't missed it. I don't think there's much call for it any more and if a web site still requires it they need to do some serious upgrading.

Bump .. Gave an old computer to my sister when her laptop died. It's an old Dell dual-Pentium desktop. Anyway, It had XP on it, but now has mx-linux 19.2. I'm just waiting for her to call me and ask about face-book games. Don't know if they can be got going, or not? I didn't install flash or Java. I've also read that flash is being retired. Is that because html 5 can do everything flash can?

As I understand Flash has been declining for years as a result of security problems and is being depreciated by its owner Adobe.
