Desktop icon font colour

Stupid question time:
The default font colour for my desktop icons is white.
I would prefer to have a somewhat darker colour to increase readability against my chosen backgrounds.
Despite searching the manual and the forums I've failed to find out how this could be achieved.
Obviously my search terms are falling short so any pointers would be appreciated.

For advanced Xfce and theme tweaking Xfce forum is the best because moderator ToZ seems to know almost everything there is to know about it. Check out this thread for some advice how to tweak desktop icon text color in Xfce 4.14:

I did this with one specific theme and it's a bit of trial and error.

Agreed, ToZ seems to know everything about everything. He's especially valuable now with Xfce 4.14 customization.

The best solution is white fonts with a dark outline, but I don't think that's possible yet in XFCE. I remember tweaking KDE 3's desktop icon's fonts in the old MEPIS days with some customizer to get the best outlines.
