Lutris has been updated in the MX Test Repo to version 0.5.8.1.
Please do not enable any repos to install this. You should be able to find and install it using the MX Test Repo tab in MX Package Installer.
Major updates to Lutris:
- Remove Proton from available Wine versions
- Display a dialog until Lutris finishes initializing
- Allow to keep game files when uninstalling a game
- Remove custom sidebar CSS
- Fix popup menu not showing in list view
- Fix script loading for local files
- Fix installed at column setting name for list view
- Fix lutris not launching games with rungameid
- Fix installed Steam game for fresh lutris installs
If you use or test Lutris, please let us know, I'd like to move this to the stable repo sooner rather than later.
NOTE: I already Lutris 0.5.8.2 was released yesterday, I will get to it in due time, but I want to let it settle for a bit as this version has more new features than fixes.

In the absence of any other posts I'll say the new version installed fine, runs fine and works fine. I'm not a fan of the new layout and the way they've hidden the configure button but that's not your fault!

Thanks for the testing and feedback. Really don't mind feedback, its when the package threads turn into Q&A or support threads.
I don't think there is anything keeping this in the MX Test Repo, I'll double back and check soon, hopefully we get some input from other folks testing as well.

Lutris 0.5.8.3 is now in the MX Test Repo.
As always use MX Package Installer > Test Repo tab to install it.

Hi again, any chance of the new v0.5.10 release making its way to the repos? The past couple of versions have support for launching games from Epic Games Store which would be really useful. Thanks!

Welcome Alex!
It's been in the MX 19 and 21 test repo for a week or so...have you checked out installing it from the test repo tab in MX Package installer?

Sorry if this is not the right place but may I ask if it is possible to update the lutris-package in testing to 0.5.12?
I have already asked at the package-request for MX21 but maybe that was the wrong place and I should have used this thread instead?
If so please feel free to delete my post in the other forum and my apologies for creating it there!
Thank you anyway in advance :)

0.5.12 should be in the test repos for MX 19 and 21 shortly, along with a newer winetricks script if that comes in handy.

I would've posted sooner but it seems the repo I was using had died.. I thought I hadn't had many updates for a while..!
I've just tried installing 0.5.12-1~mx19+1 but the install errors out with:
Code: Select all
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
lutris : Depends: gir1.2-webkit2-4.1 but it is not installable
E: Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages.
I have gir1.2-webkit2-4.0 installed (apparently as standard included software?) and out of desperation I've also installed gir1.2-webkit-3.0 from MX19 Test but it still fails.
Did anyone else have better luck?

I'll take a look at the package again for MX 19, it may just need 4.0 added as an alternative dependency.

Can you see if this works? I don't have any MX 19 or Buster installs, just non-GUI schroots for building packages. It may actually require 4.1, but let's try this before I try backporting 4.1 to Buster.

That installs and works fine! I'm not sure if every facet of Lutris still works but it certainly seems good enough to me.

Saw there was Lutris 5.12 in Test Repo.
I deinstalled the one I had from the normal repo, and clicked install the one from test repo.
Sorry for the German error message:

@argonaut459 wrote:

It means that this package:
can't be installed. It may not be available anymore or it might not be suitable for your version of MX.
It goes on to say that these two recommended packages:
Code: Select all
libwine-development and python-evdev
should no be installed either and that is likely be cause they need the previous one in order to work properly.
The upshot of this is that Lutris will not install or work on your system and, unfortunately, there is nothing you can do to change that.

Strangely enough, the version from normal repo was working, though I admit I never got around actually using it
Checked the homepage, version 5.13 (beta) sounds promising, let's wait for its stable release and try again.
IIRC, I installed this python thing cause I need it for a script to read out a USB testing device. That didn't work right out of the box, didn't got around on looking into it yet.

Just saw this on their homepage:
Code: Select all
Packages compatible with Debian are available on the openSUSE Build Service.
You can add a repository using terminal to receive automatic updates:
echo "deb https://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/strycore/Debian_11/ ./" | sudo tee /etc/apt/sources.list.d/lutris.list
wget -q https://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/strycore/Debian_11/Release.key -O- | sudo tee /etc/apt/trusted.gpg.d/lutris.asc
sudo apt update
sudo apt install lutris
would this be a good idea? or will this conflict with other settings MX has?
tried on another PC the flatplack, and the new version works way better (at least connecting to different stores)
But 1 GB for lutris is a bit much considering the small size the version out of the repo has :D

Hi, the most recent 5.17 version of Lutris does not install on MX19, it fails with a Python error. Can it be reverted to 5.16? Probably forever since 19 is close to EOL?

Thanks!
