Useless but **fun** eye candy

#1 Post by manyroads »

If you are looking for some fun and want to be super cool and look busy, you might check blessed-contrib out. I have attached an image of it running on my MX18.3 bspwm desktop:

If you want to install this highly questionable but fun 'thing' here's the url: https://github.com/yaronn/blessed-contrib

btw. it does work with the nodejs software from the MX testrepo.

You're not supposed to link large images like that. Max sizes are indicated in that post I linked to.

The images consume no space on the forums (beyond the link characters, they even save network bandwidth because the forums don't store them & send them). I guess I don't understand any rationale for linking to marginally useful images. If the only benefit is scroll time, I'd argue (not that a soul would listen) that most people would prefer to scroll and have the option of viewing a decent image to not having any option but to get a poor image. But not complain further and I'll shut up and just not bother with images.

The top panel is 'polybar'... the bottom is 'tint2'. The desktop is bspwm (a tiling window manager).

When you have a link to an image hosting source without the [img] tags, one click will bring up the full image from that site. We do not care how large the image is on that site so legibility is not an issue. One click should not be a burden to anyone. Also large images are distracting to the flow of the thread.
