My cat has had an operation on the 11th of June

Just wanting to get good thoughts my way.. or rather.. my cat's way. Doerak (Rascal in English) will have to stay sober tonight, and tomorrow morning he needs to be at the vet between 8 and 8:30.
He lost the crown of a tooth and the nerve is open in his mouth.. that HAS to hurt. So.. we arranged for this to be taken care of tomorrow.
We don't know the cause, I have a suspicion which is trauma, he fell off of something and hit something else on the way down, hard, and now I am kind of hoping THAT is the cause, because then it'll be only that one tooth. The vet is going to check the rest of his mouth, so if need be, and the cause is not trauma but something tooth decay related, more will come out.
I just hope it is only the one tooth, then there will be no need for a cone of shame for two days. So.. please..

for my sweetie!
Baby pic (he's the one on the right, with the white nose):
And him now:
At least my domestic helper will be coming over tomorrow so I'll have some distraction. Poor little kitty, he's so scared. Bringing the sweater he always crawls into when on my lap, that way there is something with a familiar scent with him in the cage.
*sigh* At least he doesn't know yet..

I bet he knows, at least that something out of the normal routine is going on, and if you've checked his teeth lately he probably associates the preparations with that. Animals are smarter than many people think. I'll pray for Doerak to have no issues during his visit to the dentist and have a speedy recovery afterward. (At least you'll get to laugh at him when he's drunkenly staggering around as he's coming out of the sedatives.)

Poor old fella, yes, he'll know something is amiss, hope all goes well & nothing else needs sorting out.

@JayM
Nope.. I steered clear from touching his mouth :) His issue was discovered at the vet, by chance, when we were there for something else, MONTHS after that trauma event occurred.
Also.. there will be no drunken staggering here.. I am not picking him up until he is good and well awake! I have had that happen once with another cat, not doing that again, way too dangerous.
@JayM and @mxer
They are indeed smarter than we think, he will definitely feel my being tense about it. I just hope things will go smoothly.
The cat before him had many operations, but he was very social. The para-vets were having a good time with him, he was ALWAYS wanting to get pet hahaha. He was the clinic's sweetheart alright. He was old too, almost ten years older than Doerak is now, who is 8. Doerak is the scared cat kind, unfortunately.
I'll be glad when it's over and he's home safe and sound and WITHOUT that darned cone!

@ Eadwine Rose. All will go well, I had nearly the same problem as Doerak. It was part fixed today, thought I was losing the whole tooth
but the gumdigger removed the loose top of it and made a temporary repair. Go back to see him in week or so for a some reinforcing - a
stainless pin to be fitted into the root, then he'll build another composite tooth around the pin. Only sad thing will be paying for it.

I was just remembering when Rahab, our female Doberman, got a puncture wound in her ear flap that wouldn't stop bleeding, thanks to Joshua the male Dobie chewing on her ears. I took her to our vet who has a 24 hour emergency service and Rahab was given a sedative for the exam. The vet, Doc Grace, actually laughed when she found out it was just a tiny puncture wound in the inner ear flap that happened to hit a vein. I had to wait over an hour for Rahab to come out of the sedative before I took her home to make sure she didn't vomit in the taxi, and she was staggering around and falling down like she'd been at the bottle. Very funny (partially due to my great relief that she wasn't going to bleed to death. I had to spend an hour cleaning up pools and spatters of blood when we got home. It looked as though I'd butchered a pig inside the house.)

@Gordon
Wow...
I bet that hurt before you went in.
Glad you can get it taken care of though.
Will you beep when you're checked in the airport after this? *giggle*

Awww. Poor baby. Yeah.. in those cases you cannot wait for them to get out of the sedative properly.
Hitting a vein is annoying alright! And indeed that bleeds like a m.. that.
I had that happen when I was still learning to inject myself, at the doc's office. I need to take B12 shots weekly, so yeah, learned to do that myself, I wasn't driving to the office every week for the rest of my life, hell to the no.. Back when I apparently had inserted the needle through a vein to the "happy spot" which was clear, and upon pulling the needle out had blood pool out of my leg. The assistant's face was like

and I was calmly like "Please hand me a tissue?" so I could push that on the thing

I did wait. Meanwhile I laughed at her while she was in the process of coming out of it. "Go home, Rahab! You're drunk!"
