MBR and ESP

Hello everyone.
I am Linux noob.
I was using Kubuntu for few weeks on my desktop and laptop with Win 10 dual boot. I wanted to try MX instead of kubuntu. On my desktop everything was fine so I have installed it on my laptop and during installation I have chosen to install grub on MBR and I had this error " minimal bash like is supported...." After some research I have found out that I have ESP partition. So I have installed MX again and chose to install grub on ESP.
So now I can see the screen on start up where I can choose to start Mx, Mx advenced options and memory test but there is no windows option there.
I can still boot to windows tho if I go to boot options pressing f12 (where you chose to boot from usb etc). There the partition with Windows I shown and I can boot from there no problem.
Is there anything I can do to so the windows will be available on the grub menu?
Sorry for the long post 😉

in a terminal, run

Code: Select all

sudo update-grub
which should get your windows entry back. for whatever reason, the grub installation sometimes misses it the first time.

It worked. Thank you very much.
I think rumours about great people here on Mx forums were true. 😊
