I can say (as an ePapirus user) that there is a difference between regular Papirus and ePapirus (slight but to me significant). I actually don't know why MX would require a unique set of icons but if you do...why don't you simply fork Papirus and make the mix? I doubt anyone would complain. I mixed Numix with Papirus, sorry. Still, we can open issue on their tracker and ask them to customize MX.
