claws-mail-3.16 is now available from the test repository. It looks like quite a bit of work went into this release.

What are the chances of getting the fancy-plugin for this version. Could not find in the Test Repo.

It was pulled for 3.16. The last release that had it was 3.15 and we only have it for MX15 in the MX test repo.

edit: I had backported the one from buster and it's not in the one from sid either.

The source code is here: http://www.claws-mail.org/releases.php I downloaded it and found fancy there, I think if someone knew what they were doing it could be made (not me). Here on my computer "Downloads/claws-mail-3.16.0/src/plugins/fancy/". Maybe??

From what I can gather, the fancy-plugin & gtk3 offer too much of a security risk to keep.
here's a couple threads: gentoo archlinux

I've installed / upgraded claws-mail-3.16
with the following plugins I'm using: As I'm not using the fancy-plugin anyway I seldom see a need
for viewing the HTML-part. But if need I do open the HTML-part
with dillo-browser - even with turned off remote CSS and remote pictures anyway.

Looks like latest claws-mail (3.17.1-1~bpo9+1) made it into stretch-backports.

Thank you for the update, v3.17.1 is much faster (here) than the v3.14 (the common MX repository)

In case I posted earlier in the wrong forum I will repeat here, it is working great for me on two computers with 10+ email accounts and some plugins.

As I'm running daily claws-mail version 3.17.3-1~mx17+1 from testrepo since it was available without any issue with bunch of IMAP and some POP accounts I'd vote to move this to main. It's highly stable, fast and reliable.

I upgraded previous test version with this one.
Upgrade went well and after about 10 days, claws-mail with my 10+ email accounts works great
