try shotwell to import you photos off your phone. it will use the "gphoto" protocol to access your device.

Any reason you've chosen MX15 over MX16, our latest offering? They're both based on the same Debian Stable base, but MX-16 has a little more to offer with a heap of refinements, better hardware support et al.

Release date of MX15 was 24th Dec 2015 and a monthly snapshot release was provided through to November 2016, then MX16 was released on 12th December 2016. The first monthly snapshot update ISO for MX16 has been available since 16th Jan 2017.

With Gigolo you should be able to mount you phone via gvfs and access it afterwards with Thunar (the pre-installed file manager).

m_pav,

Yes MX-15 was installed before the new release.

Does your ipod store images on the cloud, if this would that work for you? You could download via an apple web login direct to another device then I think.

I have found Ipod5 cables quite unreliable and have resorted to wifi and router before. My router has a USB stick inserted that is available as a shared 'drive', a possible option to copy over to?

Ive been using Airdroid for a long time, but for Apple, Airmore is the ticket and its available from appstore. It's available for Android too and while I haven't tried it, I'm told its better than Airdriod, which is ad supported, though I've never seen an ad because I refuse to create an account, preferring a direct connection through whatever wireless I happen to be on.

I'm not logged into MX Linux at the moment but I think there were some new packages in the MX16 iso to deal with iPhones (only partially, though) that were not in MX15.

Could you open Synaptic and enter "mx" into the search box to see if there are any mx-labelled packages that refer to iphones? When I wanted to add some of the newer MX-Tools to MX15 without full migration, I vaguely recall also seeing something related to iphone connectivity. I didn't bother installing it because I don't have an iphone.

Also, see:

https://mxlinux.org/smartphones-mx-16-s ... -iphone-6s (from 3 minutes 54 s)

gvfs is mentioned. Make sure this package is installed on your system as well.
