MX Manual: HTML & CSS

#1 Post by SilverBear »

Starting a thread here so that people (well, mostly people... I'm not "speciesist") can discuss and perhaps assist with any issues I'm having as we translate what we have into something WebWonderful.
So far, Lyx (IMO) not so much lyx as sux. If you want objective validation of my judgment, run our alpha manual on this page:

Code: Select all

http://www.mepiscommunity.org/user_manual_mx15/MX15_Manual_alpha.html
thru this validator:

Code: Select all

http://validator.w3.org/
"Let's not even go" into the issue of validating the Lyx CSS file!

BUT "Lyx" did what we needed it to do!
We have a working version online that we can all see.
Jerry has given me pretty clear guidelines on what to reformat. It will take at least the rest of the weekend to come up with "Alfa 2: the XHTML version." In the 5 or so years since I relinquished dictatorship of mepiscommunity.org, I find I no longer have admin/sign-in status --or any sign-in status-- outside the Forum. I may get that worked out with peregrine  , or I may put up trial versions for inspection on SBlinux.org --like we did with the original Mepis manual versions. Whichever -- the point is: LET'S KEEP THIS BALL ROLLING! Assist by adding missing content through the Manual Section forum threads that have been set up.
Jerry Bond & Gordon Cooper :number1: have put a lot of effort into things so far. We owe it to them, and our MX Community to get this into excellent shape!
Problems? Fuggetabbout it! Let's all look at "problems" as just "things" to deal with. . .
