@freya: you need to select 'Transparent' from the alignment dropdown list in conky-manager2 'Edit Widget'
or you manually edit the conkyrc file to change line own_window_argb_visual = to 'true'
as for transbg.lua script, please check the correct path. You mentioned $HOME/LUA/transbg.lua , whereas it is $HOME/.conky/LUA/transbg.lua.
EDIT: And make sure that lua file is executable (lua script does not need to be made executable)

And yes, if you haven't enabled a real-transparency compositor (like compton or picom) in 'startup' file, then you need to set the 'pseudo-transparency' option in conky-manager.
Did you try the transparent widget background, that can be set with 'transbg.lua' script (compton/picom is not needed for this)?
I did not--should something be changed/added to the README file?

A shot of MX-23 Fluxbox b2 using torre-di-libretti background with the new conky by @ceeslans that will be available in the rc. Pretty elegant in my view.

I think this will be my last screenshot of a mx 21 version, the next one will be the mx 23 ... and probably you will not be able to see any difference :)
Tint2 as dock (autohide), conky adapted to the Acer laptop with Core i5, everything else is hidden, fluxbox typical in the root menu and the various submenus and the links with keyboard shortcuts.

@wdscharff The blue-eyed dog seems to patiently pose for this shot, right? Excellent photo of (your?) dog; great lighting and depth of field.

Yes, my black german shepherd (old GDR breeding line).
The original doesn't look quite as interesting, he's not posing on purpose either, he's waiting for his food :-)
Sony A7III and an old Tamron 28-105/2.8 (Canon Bayonet, so via adapter). At 105mm and aperture 2.8 you already have a nice depth of field.
