This machine, "WallE", will not start MX21,

WallE runs mxkde, antiX19, mx19xfce [this qsi.]
The same usb that runs in those other three machines
stops at the bios splash.
With internal drive plugged in it will not give boot menu.
Would you try this boot parameter:
blab=MX-Live-usb
added to the first setparams line within the Grub menu entry.
Press »e« to edit, press »End« key to jump to the end of the first line.
Press space bar and type:
blab=MX-Live-usb
Press F10 or Ctrl-x to boot.

With no internal drive hooked up it will not start nor give boot menu. ;
it is blocked from seeing any bootable devices (but no message cunclusion comes)
it is just locked on the bios splash and goes no further.
So, you cannot even get to the live boot menus? This is a Legacy-BIOS (non-EFI) machine, at least how it is configured, with MBR boot.
I am sure fehlix would like to know if this machine can only boot in Legacy_BOOT mode and non-UEFI mode. Can you temporarily change the BIOS options to boot UEFI (if available) just to test? You can then restore it to Legacy(non UEFI) mode after testing the USB device again.

Oops ... on BIOS boot mode: add the mentioned boot parameter into the boot option field,
or switch to GRUB.
I wonder whether blab= helps to not have the live-search stop/hangs at the RAID device.

My Epson scanner is only detected by sane-find-scanner run as root. As user, it returns:
@Gaer Boy could you check to see if adding the saned user to lp and/or plugdev groups helps with your scanner setup issue. you might need to reboot for the changes to take affect.
@dolphin_oracle This had no effect. I think a udev rules entry may work - I'll have to work out where to put it.
OK - This is resolved. Mention of a udev rules entry triggered my memory. When I got this scanner last year I had a problem getting it to work. The solution was a driver download from Epson, an entry in /etc/udev/rules.d/ and a symlink to the location of the epkowa driver. Reboot and all works as expected.

I wanted an encrypted disk, so went for the MX21 Beta option with fresh install. I am no nerd, but have used linux for over ten years and MX LInux 3 years. So far all good, but I found one issue when wanting to install Ocenaudio from a deb package. It failed with the package installer-just hung, do not know why. Yet when I installed from a terminal, it installed as expected.
Other packages installed include Megasync, Ardour and have not encountered any issues.
Sorry I am no guru, but hope this may help someone.
Other than that, I have found the look to be an improvement, though have adjusted background to my taste.
Regards
GMT

Thanks

When you say "package installer" do you mean the one that opens when you double click the .deb?

Chris
I know what the problem is, a fix will come shortly from the repos.
mx-timedate has updated from 21.3 to 21.7, and the servers are now in the list. However, running 'Update Now' results in the message 'The system clock could not be updated.' A reboot didn't help.

EDIT

The machine I was testing this on has an encrypted install. When testing on other hardware without encryption, Date & Time work as expected.

Chris
I tested the command, you might get this error if one of the debian.pool.ntp.org fails, it runs the command with all of them and if one fails for some reason the command fails, I think I will change that to check in order and return once it gets a good result.

Yes, sorry for my error, but wanted to provide positive feedback. Im addition the set up of my HP printer went like a dream, whereas previous it was an issue with a binary plugin required.

Its ok, but that is what you are talking about right?

Double clicking a .deb and Gebi failing to install it?
