I ran Fluxbox/Debian on my late Core2Duo machine. It had a kind of green theme with a fluXbox - resembling "Xbox" logo - wallpaper on it. It was very nice, imo.

(On that machine Debian ran great. OpenSUSE, for comparison, on it ran like a turtle on Valium... Debian rocks. Thank you, Ian Murdock...)

Don't think I put this up yet. Photo by wdscharff, made b/w with black MXFB logo by Utopia, conky from asqwerth and beyond. Dock and toolbar on autohide to not get in the way of the aesthetics.

Meanwhile my Fluxbox installation is (almost) finished, maybe a bit of fine-tuning with the icons and a few starters will be added, but I have time.
I seem to be satisfied with Fluxbox. I have hardly used xfce the last days, although it was my default desktop for years, no matter if Mint, opensuse or MX.
The Idesktools and the Dockmaker made the changeover much easier, thanks for that!

Very nice--great combination of icons and dock! A lot of work went into developing those tools so I am very pleased to hear that they have worked so well for you.

I'm sure I wouldn't have done it without these tools!
I looked at Fluxbox a few years ago, some arch distribution, and I found it too cumbersome to adapt it to my needs.
With MX, I wasn't interested in it at first either, until I happened to see your first video on it. That was an icebreaker :-)

I like my desktop to be low-saturated --> if not grayscaled or plain black+white.
and style/theme as dark as my coffee...

I liked your desktop, but one think that I never like seeing is uneven things- the fact that the dock is "taller" than the toolbar is the single thing I don't like- you can, if you also dislike that, edit the dock so the each icon is 30 or 32p in height, so it matches the toolbar, or, if you want to get your hands dirty not using a GUI, try my script over at viewtopic.php?f=143&t=59004&start=10#p583822- first move the dock to the left sidfe (or where you want it) then you can try the script- please note that the script rewrites the toolbar config, so, if you want to try that, please back up everything! You don't have to be a programmer to know how to add icons to the scipt, I tried to make it as simple to use as possible- just read the instructions, if you want to try it :-)

I understand your concern about the different icon sizes, the icons for the idesk starters are already 32x32.
I don't know yet what I will like better in the end, 48x48 would be more comfortable for my old eyes.
Maybe I'll also make the toolbar taller.
I'm not finished yet, e.g. I haven't put my hand on the menu yet, so there's a lot of customization to do for me.
Theoretically, I could do without Dock and Icondesk, but I think that would be a bit too minimalistic.

Two easy solutions I see:

1) autohide the dock
2) change toolbar height to 34 or a bit higher (will be able to use new version of MX Tweak)

I'm getting where I'm going.
This will probably be my last picture in MX Fluxbox Screenshots, except for wallpapers you won't see anything anymore and you can look at them elsewhere :-)

MX-Fluxbox, minimized, without Conkey, Dock and idesk.
(Which could be activated at any time, with full "comfort" the Ram consumption in idle mode is at least 120mb higher)

Tidy desktop, but the menu is a swiss knife. No need for the xfce-appfinder.
The xfce-appfinder has the disadvantage, once started it remains in the ram and with >50mb it is not very economical
Thanks to FBmenugen I have saved a lot of typing work, the installation and operation is also very well explained.

Clipit was replaced with parcellite on a trial basis, it is also a bit lighter (-10mb) than Clipit. Makes no difference in functionality for me now.
