Running 32 bit live in VBox, I noticed 2 instances of yad running using 34 MB RAM (root terminal type ps_mem.py). I haven't opened anything except the root terminal to type in ps_mem.py.

32 bit RAM usage is much, much higher than MX-16.1 (c360 MB compared to IIRC an idle of under 200MB for MX-16.1)

Probably the usb-Unmounter notification icon. That's the only yad thing running all the time.

64 bit useage is a lot higher too. although pretty close to what I've seen on debian with similar services running.

there is more stuff running in 17 vs 16.1, but not enough to account for the ram usage. some of this stuff is just heavier this go around.

a5 was worse on 64 bit. the b1 features a slightly newer kernel, and it helped ram usage a little (at least here).

I tested quickly MX17 beta1 in VirtualBox, and here are my feedbacks. Not a lot of them, but the ones that jumped to my eyes.

2) I cannot install any single translation package using simplified MX installer applications. Terminal windows is opening, and no matter which repository I select (either stable or mx repo), nothing is done.

I had to use Synaptic and install missing packages by hand.

Have a good day.

thanks for trying these! I think its a problem with the libreoffice sets. We will get that updated (they worked with 5.2, but not with 5.3).

As I understand the present Libre Office situation, 5.3 is the stable version for most users. 5.4 is still being developed and perhaps
not suitable as an MX default application.

However, I am using LO 5.4.2.2 without (yet) any problems.

Pros i Found during to my observation---

*Excellent theme with beautiful wallpapers i like them
*MX Tweak team is really good for changing some settings it makes things much easier
*Papirus icon theme is really good
*Thanks for adding Numix theme
*Conky is nice with more settings to change the color
*No issues with LIBRE office and GIMP everything is opening well
*Notifications settings are nice and the themes for notifications are really looking good
* Chromium Black Boxes issue solved this time may be it is because of update

Here are the cons i found with my system:----

*Mx apt updater when i click on it nothing is being displayed instead synaptic is opening if i double click
*Found one issue with conky when i drag the conky on to the left the screen the icons on the desktop are disappearing
*Found another issue with conky when i syncronise my clock with internet and after starting system if the time is changed according to my network conky is moving the position on desktop during time change
*advert blocking is not blocking youtube videos ads and some ads are being blocked in the browser however an empty white box with can't connect to the website is being displayed
*The system is slow when compared to MX-16.1 may be my system getting old :-)
*Chromium is updated with this chromium i couldn't understand it is taking time to open newtab whereas in mx-16.1 i didn't found the issue and is fast

Suggestion:-

If possible add startup MX-16 logo instead of normal startup screen if possible
I couldn't understand MX is little bit slowed on my pc may be due to my hard ware or Beta i couldn't understand
If possible add little more themes and remove some XFCE old themes if possible

Thanks for Bringing Beautiful OS i Congratulate those who worked hard for this project from my bottom of my heart
