Side scroll error

Here's a possible source for the side scroll error, where the forum gets too wide and doesn't automatically re-flow. I've noticed that the problem seems to be associated with the thanks notification. If there are many thanks the notification gets very wide.

If that proves to be the case we can remove that notification, or limit the number that show.

EDIT: I just removed the time notification. That should shorten it up.

Yep - that's what I meant. Is there a way to bring the old rep in? Like I said, I don't mind editing members individually. I do think it is important. I just need the data.

Edit all 3000 plus members or 600 plus active members! Big task. I believe that data is available in a copy of VB that Karen has. Not sure if it is in a concise usable format, however.

quick question, in the old forum you used to be able to mark all forums read, so the next time you checked for unread posts the list would include everything after that marking. i can't find a similar function in this new forum software.

did a quick search and it looks like this capability can be introduced
http://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopi ... &t=2099365

it's a useful feature, but not at the top of the stomping out brush fires list...

We removed "Mark Forums Read" from the menu. It was not working properly and all our efforts, many hours spent, could not make it work. It remains something we want to reinstate, but need to have it function properly.

If you peruse the phpBB forum you will see numerous comments about problems with it, and proposed solutions. We tried several to no avail.

There's still one at the bottom of board index. It's not working any better.

First of all, I'd like to thank everyone involved in setting up the new forum, you all have done a tremendous job once again. This is a very nice Christmas present for the forum members.

Those not getting a re-direct from mepislovers, can click on http://www.mepiscommunity.org, click on forums, then click on the users forum image, which will bring up the new forum, then bookmark the new address, add it to speed dial, or whatever else you use.

Thanks again to you all :yourock:

No hurry - Karen's aware and we'll have a look at the old VB when she's had a break. I expect the 600 active members will actually be fewer, as a lot of them will be spammers who haven't posted or users with under 10 posts (so have no rep anyway).

I'm guessing it will probably be only around 100-150 manual edits - and I could do them over a few days once I get the data. I might also be able to have a look at pruning any other obvious non-members (old spammers who slipped through) while I'm doing it.

The banned group currently has no members. We deleted them, trusting the strength of phpBB in spam prevention. It is too early to tell, but we have not had any spammer registrations since we opened. We replaced the captcha with questions, ie "What is 5 added to the number of sides of a hexagon." It should cut down on auto registrations.
