It still freezes, but I have found a solution, and will post it.

When above machine is left powered up, once the Power Manager Display settings go to blank, it can't be recovered. Black screen. no response from mouse or keyboard.
It's possible to Ctrl-Alt-F1 to start another session, or to reboot.
Setting everything to Never leaves it running.
It hasn't happened with earlier version of MX Linux.

I have found a workaround for this. Using Tweak to change the video driver to Intel fixes the problem

It's good to know it wasn't MX / MX 21 - specific :)

Nor another suspend - freeze issue :)

Indeed!

I am able to duplicate the issue, and resolve it, on another laptop with Intel graphics.

I am having the similar issue with logging back in after system sleeps. I'm on my laptop to post this message. The mouse and keyboard are un-resposive and the drive light is going crazy. I even change my bios settings. This happens very often that it is annoying. I will post system info once I hard boot and get back in. I'm using Nvidia graphics. I waited over an hour and the drive light will not quit. Installed system.

#616 Post by Andrii »

Hello!
The operating system MX-21_beta1_x64 was installed on the HP ZBook Firefly 15.6 "G8.
After installation, there was no sound and the digital microphone did not work.
The problem with the lack of sound was solved by installing the firmware-sof-signed_1.7-1_all.deb package and after rebooting the sound started working, but the microphone did not work.
In debian-live-11.0.0-amd64-cinnamon + nonfree.iso and debian-live-11.0.0-amd64-xfce + nonfree.iso, sound and microphone work out of the box when a live session is loaded.

@Huckleberry Finn

Thank you for your reply, but this solution does not provide digital microphone functionality. And in debian-live-11.0.0-amd64-cinnamon + nonfree.iso and debian-live-11.0.0-amd64-xfce + nonfree.iso both sound and digital microphones work out of the box. And MXLinux's support for the latest hardware is critical to the success of the system.

Good luck.

Ok, thank you for the feedback. Devs will take it into consideration. (Though default kernels are the same version: 5.10.0-8 )

@j.kemp is it possible for you to try with an "untouched" MX 21 (other than just updating). Before & After Nvidia installation.

(You have many repos added )
