will add some verbage. it's a copy of Maturity.png, labeled default25.png because its technically customizable (the default25.png file, not Maturity.png). respiners can make a new default25.png file for making default wallpapers on their spins. its part of how we get around Xfce's hard-coded default background.

MX Tour opening screen is MX 23 desktop image. Last screen of the tour (Getting Help) the 'Next' button is illuminate pale blue vs what should be 'X Close' button.

MX Tweak Theme tab has a 'Dark Mode' checkbox. Checking it does nothing. My expectation was the 'Apply' button would un-grey when checked?
takes affect instantly, and only applies to gtk4 libadwaita apps dark mode vs. light mode. the disk analysis tool might be the only libadwaita app installed, not 100% sure. maybe simplescan as well. I made an attempt at explaining this in the tooltip, but it might be non-obvious.

authentication for things is the user/sudo password. root's password is indeed root.

From a Live Boot BIOS menu - choose "Switch to Grub Bootloader" to see the "Boot Rescue Menus" choice (live only).

On UEFI it is the last entry in the initial menu.

The "F6 Failsafe" on the bottom menu has other boot modifiers: "Safe Video", "Failsafe", "load=all" and "modesetting" as choices.

Edit: added F6 info.

Not sure what you mean. I get this, which is what it should be

I guess my bad in assuming it would be the same as the MX 25 desktop background image. Carry on!

kmathern wrote: Mon Sep 22, 2025 2:18 pm I can figure out what some of the mirrors are, but can you actually choose a particular mirror (without resorting to a bunch of command line tricks)? It looked to me like it was randomly choosing a mirror for you, like it's trying to even out the load.
SourceForge download pages always give you an option to choose a different mirror if you prefer, but as I recall you go to the "Problems Downloading?" page to do this.

Is it possible to turn this vm into an ISO for installation at a later date?
Yes, the tool still available in MX-25, is called "MX Snapshot", which creates an ISO of the running system, and doesn't matter, the system is running in a VM.
Excellent, thanks
