Nice!

EDIT: I feel I should give you the official logo if you are currently creating wallpaper. It is an overlay that you can position with the correct font and verbiage.

That is very nice. If possible, could you change the logo to "MX Linux" to which we switched for the future with the release of MX-16.1?

Also, we use Crackdown for the logo font (not sure what you have there).

That design in a variety of colours would be nice.

One suggestion if I may; move the text a little higher to allow for a large horizontal panel.

As far as I know they are all .png. Perhaps Utopia or asqwerth knows if there are any.

Hi antech, I have no idea about the resolutions of the logo, unfortunately. I don't know a lot abt creating graphics and artwork.

If what Jerry3904 posted is not hi res enough, perhaps you could make one. As screens get larger, wallpapers and logos will certainly need to be more hi res.

Love the colour of your first WP. We don't have many nice MX wallpapers in shades of red and wine.

Skidoo, I believe the previous request for WP was for specific images to be included in an ISO release.

Here, antechdesigns is just creating nice MX branded WP because he wants to.

asqwerth is right I just want to give something back to the mx-distro, I don't have a lot of money for a donation, so I thought I'd donate some time, graphics, wallpapers etc.

I made a bigger logo 596*459 I tried to match it the best I could, it can be used for logos wallpapers etc its only a png but its bigger and looks sharper than the other one that was posted (no offence to the originator) better to downscale an image than upscale one, what you think?

No problem Jerry, I used the icon I recreated and used the Crackdown font, you get the font from dafont: http://www.dafont.com/search.php?q=Crackdown
May not look like the font when you view the page but there is four fonts included in the zip

I love the Abstract one in Blue and Pink.

Request: can you do it in something that goes with the panel/whisker menu colour, but still keeping to deeper/darker tones though?

Below is the default desktop for MX16.1:

I think we're probably looking at a colour that has lavender/purple shades?

Request 2: could you do "Abstract" in the same colour as the neon-blue/green feathers in the kingfisher (see also the "User-Switch" icon in the whisker menu next to the Logout icon)?

Hi Jerry, I don't use social media, I tend to keep away from the spy agencies, microsoft, facebook, twitter, google, etc. That's why I moved to linux and I'm glad I did, wish I'd done it sooner.

I also like the greyish one. It feels more 3-dimensional to look at here.

antechdesigns, I have a request for WP:

- surface/background is a darkish matte grey with corrugated cardboard texture
- MX logo only (no words) in the centre surrounded by a circle, a bit like this

crunchbang-decrustification-services.png

but the circle thickness need not be so thick (unless you want to add the words "MX Linux" in normal block letters)

- colour of logo and circle is a vintage cream/yellow or a very light grey. Not clean white. But I don't need the tattered and torn look of the pic above.

I'm going for the crunchbang #! look.

Wow, that's actually pretty cool!

I think I know what you mean about the faded logo, since a too-solid logo will look strange on the old-looking, multi-level background.

Keep the non-faded logo in reserve for now. I have a cleaner/smoother cardboard texture which I can post later, which you can use with the non-faded logo. Thanks so much!

Haha, that's just a really magnified pic of corrugated cardboard where you have exposed the curvy bit within the 2 sandwiching flat sheets.

This is a really nice pic but the creator on deviantart requires attribution/credit and I was too lazy to ask that of antechdesigns.

Actually, until antechdesigns asked me for a sample pic he could use, I had no idea there were so many webpages displaying pics of different cardboard textures. And lots of them require credit to be given.

BTW, tascoast, I really liked your screenshot using the greyish "Abstract" wallpaper. It's a really nice colour for the MX default theme.

It does seem a good match. The Panel is a transparent image for background with shadow, compositing enabled.

Colour - I would like:
a) a lighter grey shade, like #5E5E5E ; and

b) a variant in teal: #16a2b5

Not sure if a clean or faded logo would look better. And I'm thinking that we should lose the circle and just have a slightly larger logo on its own. Or with "MX Linux" below it.

This is totally low-priority, so please don't take time away from more urgent things just to do it.

I already appreciate all your efforts and creations as it is.

Love it! The larger logo works very well, and the grey colour fits the cardboard texture.

I double checked but can't account for this and just wonder if anyone else noticed something similar?

Try downloading from deviantart, select Download top right, sounds like you maybe using the preview image.

I still don't know why the Live USB shows as below but I think the image is fine, as I did download from the source initially to be sure as you suggest. A live USB specific issue?

Could be, bare in mind that image is 2560*1440 16.9 & 3.4MB maybe the live session is changing the file format from png to jpeg to save on resources?

I will check it on my live usb in a min and report back.....

*edit* Just checked it from the live USB, downloaded to pictures folder, and selected it, look fine on mine, is it just that image that does it or does the default ones do it eg. kingfisher?

Funny thing is even the Live USB browsing the image location in FF shows the same rendering issue. The default wallpapers display fine by comparison, or others on a data drive, for example. An odd thing, so if you find it good there I might redo the Live USB and edit to show result below over the weekend.

*Edit: New live USB MX-16.1 64-bit tested on another PC (Dell) and monitor, once again finding a common issue in rendering gradients in particular images (found one background photo in collection that also has a funny rendering with a greyish gradient type sky area), I suspect the Live USB of MX-16.1 is somehow not rendering gradients as a desktop install does, in some cases. Why has me bemused, unless there's something missing, or some RAM saving or graphic rendering feature is somehow in play? The recent green background earlier in this thread also looks incorrect when running live, both when downloaded or simply viewed on the forum page with FF.. Scratches head but keep up the good work on the artwork

......the penny may drop eventually somewhere as to what I'm seeing, and why, in Live sessions. (The video is on-board in both Lenovo/Dell desktops Fwiw)

Yep, optical. The way I noticed it (right or wrong) was if i centered a line from the MX Logo,to the bottom shaded line. It "appeared" to me, one side was longer than the other :) Just a perception!

Looking good. The Kingfisher is a close relative of the iconic Kookaburra, with its loud, laughing call. Kookaburras seem quite intelligent birds, territorial and often seen sitting watchfully on a boundary line or favored perch. They can even be hand-fed, with persistence.

Thanks tascoast, nature holds a lot of beauty, if you want to learn color theory just look at nature, you will find lots of complimentary colors.

Thanks. My eyes didn't change, but I got tired of the panel bar on the left with app buttons popping up when the cursor was near the bar, so I decided to make it smaller and fixed.

Then to recover some screen space, turned off the Button Labels in the Window Buttons applet on the bottom panel. Both panels are set at 32 pixels --could be smaller but that makes them easier for me to focus with the cursor.

I do like the darker kingfisher, mxkingfisherhirez_by_ant_ony.png,
that is easier on my eyes. :) Also like the mxlinux_blueabstract_by_ant_ony.png,
so I swap them from time to time.

Not sure why that is, but I do know, anything that is posted in to Development, Art, can not be viewed be regular users, so no feedback from regular members. Any art that I post now has to be posted twice, once in Development & once in MX-Art

I don't see it there, but you did a wallpaper once for MX in that dark ruby with two gentle swells occupying the lower half. If you still have it, could you sometime (no hurry) raise the left swell so the whole image *suggested* a landscape?

I may have it on another computer if you can't find it.

Posting this for Mike,

It was made for a competition I entered about 12 months ago and I won!! £100

Its what's know as a Photo Manipulation Composition, Where you use other images to make a totally different Image, In this one I used about 5 different images, cut them out, placed them in the composition making sure the light matches the light source, color matched and finally added some details fog, birds etc, took me about 4 hours
