I've sent them up to the test repo, but that may take a day or so to appear. Grab them early here:

Buster-backports has also been updating the icon package fairly often, but right now they are a month behind.

The update for MX17/18 is very nice, except for the MX-updater application icon in whisker menu (not the notification area) . This uses the papirus theme's icon called "mnotify-some" , which doesn't really match the look of our notification icon.

That was because in our MX17/18 version of apt-notifier, the icon assigned to this app was our original version of "mnotify-some" . At that time, Papirus did not have their own version of mnotify-some, so the app always defaulted to our original icon, ie the greenfilled box.
When Papirus devs decided to create their own icons for MX just before MX19 was released, they made their version of mnotify-some in their house style at that time, which was a blue dot for "updates available". I requested a change to ensure consistency in appearance. They kindly made greenfilled box icons for us under the name "mx-updater" (which we used for MX19) but declined to remove the house style mnotify-some icon just in case some users wanted to have both the app and notification icon use their blue dot style (they provide a script on their github page to remove hardcoding of notification area icons).
MX19's mx-updater/apt-notifier's desktop file uses "mx-updater" icon, but the mx17/18 version of the app was never changed from
.
Could the mx17/18 apt-notifier app be changed just to assign the correct icon to it? Otherwise if you update to the latest papirus set, you get that weird difference in the notification and app icons.
