installing the 2 packages solved the problem on the pc folders.
the report referred to the fact that on the stable debian the 2 packages are installed.
smartphone preview view doesn't work on fluxbox desktop either on mx23 beta (nor on official debian either)

The issue is about controlling the scroll LED behavior for alternative keyboard layouts. The LED lights up when the user switches keyboard layout, and that shouldn't be the default behavior. Or at least, it should be configurable like it says in the documentation. However, the behavior does not respond to configuration.
This concerns the Xfce desktop, and the underlying problem seems to be with gxkb which is the keyboard switcher. Gxkb also seems to be responsible for the whole "System Keyboard" section in Xfce settings.
The github page for gxkb is here:
https://github.com/zen-tools/gxkb
It says that gxkb is configurable by means of

Code: Select all

~/.config/gxkb/gxkb.config
However, changes made to that config file do not stick. They revert to their default values.

The issue is about controlling the scroll LED behavior for alternative keyboard layouts. The LED lights up when the user switches keyboard layout, and that shouldn't be the default behavior. Or at least, it should be configurable.
This concerns the Xfce desktop, and the underlying problem seems to be with gxkb which is the keyboard switcher. Gxkb also seems to be responsible for the whole "System Keyboard" section in Xfce settings.
You can disable gxkb switcher and enable Xfce buildin keyboard-layout plugin.
Let us know whether it fxes the issues you mentioned.
shmu26 wrote: Sun Jul 02, 2023 2:29 pm The github page for gxkb is here:

It says that gxkb is configurable by means of

Code: Select all

~/.config/gxkb/gxkb.config
However, changes made to that config file do not stick. They revert to their default values.
That's by design, in order to let Xfce-keyboard selection work and to allow user to select keyboard at login.

@fehlix I disabled gxkb switcher, and enabled the Xfce built-in switcher, but strangely it doesn't solve the issue. The LED still lights up when I switch to my alternative keyboard layout.

@shmu26: I got it working. The reason the change did not take effect was because a reboot is needed and I had only been testing on a Live MX-23 beta2. See my Post #10 viewtopic.php?p=731701#p731701 in your original thread for a little more detail.

@Stuart_M Yes, it works after a reboot, like you said.
