Nitrogen is perfect for the new users to fluxbox who expect something similar to their DE counterparts. Just my two cents.

I must master it as I must master my life. Without me, my Fluxbox is useless. Without my Fluxbox, I am useless.

I agree. That makes sense.

I used Feh in the "early days" of MX Fluxbox, I had several scripts for different displays on the monitor, here is my blog article about it from 2020 (in German)

But I never managed to create an easy-to-use solution for dual monitor operation.
With Nitrogen, this is a triviality that you don't have to think about. Nothing against "back to the roots", but personally I prefer convenient, user-friendly solutions that even Windows users can use ;-}

@Jerry3904 Came across this in the Packages being worked on thread.
Jerry3904 wrote: Tue Mar 11, 2025 9:33 pm One thing I did notice while reading man yad, however, is that yad now (or did it exist before?) produces a very nice calendar that follows the system default with the simple command "yad --calendar" making me think that gsimplecal may be history for MXFB.
What's wrong with gsimplecal? Personally, I like the look of gsimplecal over a YAD window and it doesn't require much RAM to use.
I click on the time in my toolbar to quickly bring it up and click on the time again to close it.
If it does get replaced by a YAD window, I can always install it.
