davidy wrote: Mon Oct 07, 2024 2:35 pm Thanks Charles. I reinstalled kernel 6.10.12-1 but edited boot to nosplash for the 1st time ever as I was getting the cursor only a couple days ago. Is it just me or does it seem like booting is a tad quicker without the splash? I actually never knew you could, or should, shut it off. "In Focus" is kinda nice . What about different colors, or is that simply more time consuming?
Your welcome. So, yes... there will be a small speed penalty for any splash, if nothing else then loading images and display as that takes cpu cycles. Even with parallel processes.. your going to slow down the load a little. Plymouth IS supposed to get out of the way when the kernel has completed its load, but even that will be a little penalty.

Colors! YES.. I had started originally wanting to 'fade in colors' but it got to be a 'which color next'... so I bailed and opted for this with the final on a 3-d logo.

I have four more logos on the burner, one of which is a blue flame thing.. but work is getting in the way.. so it will be a while before I can revisit a new creation.

By the way, I'm not planning MXLive and MXImagine colored version, these are planned as monochrome animation.
If want to colored boot animation, I plan color animation by totally new animation.
I think can not get fine result otherwise thinking color in Imagination process).

In fact, "MXPainting"(Blackboard color and green and blue, Creative one) and "MXShower"(Melber's MXBlue with White, Sentimental one) color animation image
already in my head, but I have Production Costs problem now,
Can't output now, actually production may few month later. (Jan or Feb 2025 I can show prototype probably, these are great in my head!)

Plymouth used color animation have some difficulty than monochrome version.
If animation image have color-gradation, it going not smooth gradation.
Reduce using color to about 2~5 colors, It needs none-gradation image at thinking.

Big-Hint at Thinking new color boot Animation's: MXLive and MXImagine both starts from "Perfect circle".
In other words, Your thinking animation finally reach to perfect circle, MXLive can starts from that perfect circle. (Dont' set movie length too long, keep short) and white-painted-true-circle (or cut-out your image by true-circle) recommended. and, "cut-out painting MXLive" is so good!
(Of course MX forum member everyone CAN create and show animation. MXLive's animation png-image can modify and use for your new animation.)

Good thoughts. My personal preference is monochrome because it is highly effective without becoming annoying over time. Personal!

It works for me. The blue squiggle is cool. Nicely done, Freja.

Somehow I still prefer the current splash theme, but that's my own personal preference.
