Changing the keyboard layout is not the solution, and I highly doubt this issue is specific to just me.

It was never a problem using the right Ctrl+Shift+Arrow key combination to highlight complete words in a text document (LibreOffice, Featherpad, Geany) in MX-18, MX-19, MX-21_beta1 and beta2.

All of a sudden that right-side key combination no longer functions correctly in MX-21_rc1.

It's a simple test. I wonder how many others experience the same problem as detailed in my Post #36 viewtopic.php?p=655886#p655886.

MX-19 is looking better the more MX-21 progresses.

we did change the keyboard shift key. its not the layout per se, its a key combo used by all layouts. it used to be just "rcontrol". so that is the solution.

given that arrows are on the right and their are control and shifts on the left, which would be natural for two-handed use, I bet few have run across it. but I see your point. We actually changed it from something I considered even worse which was alt+space.

I explained it here so everyone (including MX devs) would understand how easy it is to turn off CSDs in Xfce 4.16 without any bugs or side effects. Sigh.

Cool it! Did I say or pretend it doesn't exist? No I did not, no one has. The post of mine that you are linking to has nothing to do with CSD or no CSD... we were talking about Docklike Taskbar.

As already stated by dolphin, myself, and many other people since the Betas... the whole thing is flaky.... there's like 90 different nocsd implementations spread across the universe right now.

You know how to get it to perfectly work perfectly on MX... please explain to us dummies again and show us exactly how "everyone else" does it then... prove it works without any issues in any way on MX 21.

Right now we're working tons of different so called "easy" things for this RC .... we don't need no roundabout snide attitudes. I won't stand for this childish nonsense, noCSD can shove it for all I personally care, and I won't touch anything related to it until people grow up. Don't type my screen name... don't talk about the dev team or the community... RAWR! :soapbox:

I dont pretend it doesn't exist either, it just doesn't actually do what we wanted as it only affects Xfce apps that use libxfce4ui. but more power to you, it is an option.

Thank you for the explanation and especially thanks (!) for making is such an easy decision to remain on MX-19.4.

My testing is finished.

nothing wrong with 19.4 who knows, your comment here may change my mind. I've been known to take user feedback. :p

No, but honestly d_o. I absolutely think it's you who are kidding me and not the other way around. It works perfectly on MX-21, even better than on MX-19 - zero issues. I have no clue what kind of issues you may have run into with libxfce4ui-nocsd. I will continue using it with MX-21. I'm pretty confident it will continue to provide exactly what I want - the Xfce 4.14 experience.

I wanted to make sure you are aware of libxfce4ui-nocsd and as I said it is impossible for me to understand that you experience issues with it. I have no clue what those issues could be.

Anyway, I hope you (or SwampRabbit) don't block libxfce4ui-nocsd with special updates, because this is the thing that makes Xfce 4.16 usable IMO. The dev has done a great job with it and he pushes forward with Xfce 4.17. I think it is here to stay and it is already kind of established. I won't mention it again, because now I know you are aware and the purpose isn't to annoy people - just to show people that the Xfce 4.14 experience is possible with Xfce 4.16.

I can post any screenshot from my MX-21 virtual machine, because it's all working smoothly and looking good with libxfce4ui-nocsd.

I'm pretty cool actually. ;) I'm not emotional about this.

I have it working in MX-21, that's why it has always been a mystery to me why libxfce4ui-nocsd seemed like an alien concept to the MX devs. For people that don't like CSDs, libxfce4ui-nocsd is what they use on any Xfce distro. Tell me what kind of problems you have with it and I will see if I can replicate them.

wish some of you would chill a bit. the devs work very hard - nothing is so-called 'perfect'. busting chops is not a class act IMHO.
