Noobie KDE BUSTER 64bit respin...yaah
Re: noobie kde respin...yaah
Very nice job, @mikejade. I haven't had any problems with it, and the attention to detail, such as carrying over the MX wallpapers, is very nice.

Re: noobie kde respin...yaah
to save you from further agony and others who might have same problem, of missing languages decided to make an updated respin with all the localization packages intact.didnt not tweak much just removed the xfce files and added essential KDE packages.should now be possible to add the languages from system settings via add language button.suavedandy wrote: Thu Mar 12, 2020 2:58 pmSo I tried doing the first command as a normal user, with sudo and as root. Checked the locales file. The line was there. Added the line to ~/.profile and rebooted. Didn't work.mikejade wrote: Thu Mar 12, 2020 12:24 pm Assuming you setting the russian language
open root terminal and type
# export LANG=ru_RU.utf-8
confirm whether default locale settings /etc/defaul/locale contains this line
LANG="ru_RU.utf-8"
ADDITIONALLY you might need to add these line to ~/.bashrc or ~/.profile files, in your home folder to change permanently the locale of the current user to:ru_RU.utf-8
export LANG=ru_RU.utf-8
reboot

Mikejade,
Would you know if something was stripped out that would prevent add-ons to Dolphin being installed. I'm trying to add a file search function, and the following is what I get.
Thanks.

Edit: Another thing I am unable to do is open synaptic package manager. The consent dialog hangs. When I finally cancel it out it says "unable to find synaptic..."

try and install synaptic via mxpi or terminal.once installed it will be easier to add the dolphin plugins that might be missing..i had uninstalled synaptic but its icon remained in the menupaul1149 wrote: Sat Mar 14, 2020 6:11 pm Mikejade,

Mike, I do not know if you installed power devil. It is needed for the KDE power module and suspend. By the way I am running my own added KDE. If there is any way I can help with issues let me know.
I am not concerned with size so kept everything that was default that came with MXPI KDE Full install and have added a lot of stuff including downloaded widgets.

Wow, I had tried installing "over" in mxpi, but now I tried an uninstall / reinstall. Still didn't work.mikejade wrote: Sat Mar 14, 2020 7:43 pm

So I did the same via terminal? Instant success. Strange.
Thanks.

BTW, I found out my Synaptic problem. It requires the user password, not root. This is different from XFCE, as I recall. Using the user pw it sails open.
