@Stevo A couple of questions:
1. Was this version compiled with svg enabled, as
the repo states?
Code: Select all
SVG (if compiled with --enable-svg)
2. svg is supported in idesk according to that same website by two files that Debian does not appear to have (though Gnome does, it seems)
Code: Select all
jb@mx:~$ apt policy librsvg
N: Unable to locate package librsvg
jb@mx:~$ apt policy gdk-pixbuf
N: Unable to locate package gdk-pixbuf
Were you able to get around that?

2. While installing Flatpaks in MX installer there are question marks everywhere(photo)
Latest package build should fix that.

Seems useful, maybe note about it in documentation to make less people trip on it?
@jasalt Can you write me
a short sentence or two to use? The Manual is currently being revised for MX-23 so the timing would be perfect.
4.5.1 Firewall section:
In MX23, the UFW firewall is enabled by default and set to ignore all incoming connections. This may also block some popular networking services like Samba, SSH, VNC or KDE Connect from working out-of-the box.
Firewall can be configured through graphical frontend "gufw" on XFCE or firewall section in KDE system settings which both also provide rule presets for some common services.
(well, the KDE Connect isn't so far mentioned elsewhere in manual, maybe add shortly into section 3.1 Peripherals...?)
Note text for services receiving incoming connections:
3.5.4 Samba & 6.7 SSH:
Remember to enable required ports on the UFW firewall which ignores all incoming connections by default. See also section 4.5.1. Firewall.
(ending of SSH sub-section 6.7.1 already has generic mention about firewalls.. requires reformatting a bit)
Correct and adjust as needed..

Adding to Section 3, 4 and MX Wiki Samba Help file. The
Gufw documentation has moved several times, currently

I installed MX-23 KDE (and tried XFCE). I could not log in as my user.
The reboot (after install or subsequent) would get to a place where I had the option to enter Ctrl-D to continue or my root password.
If I selected Ctrl-D, the reboot would eventually bring up the log-in screen. Entering my password and logging in would bring me back to the log-in screen ad infinitum.
If I went into the root prompt at the option:
- my username was present in /etc/passwd,
- there was no home directory (/home/username) created. I believe this might be why I could never log-in.
Sorry, I no longer have the details of my installation, but I did monitor the logged data during installation and it appeared to look good with no errors.

Today I updated both of my VM installations of MX 23 beta and both hanged during the update via nala.
The first one asked me about updating /etc/X11/Xsession.d/98vboxadd-xclient which I responded with yes, then dpkg never finished at one of the later steps. The second one did not get far enough to ask me about the config file, but already hanged at configuring virtualbox-guest-x11 (7.0.8-dfsg-1~mx23+1). It appears something might be broken around there.
The same updates run through apt in a terminal without problems.
