Did you log out and in again? That's the advice given in the XFCE page I quoted and linked to.

In comparison, flatpak greybird theme is applied if I am using greybird on my desktop....
**edit*** testing with abiword flatpak, if the flatpaks themes for arc and arc-dark are installed, abiword follows the respective theme ok.
