AisleRiot Solitaire is missing cardstyles. I copied /usr/share/aisleriot/cards from MX 18.3 - now can select other card styles.

installingh alternate DE's

#323 Post by baldyeti »

Probably more a feature request for MXPI than strictly MX19-related:
i just installed plasma5 from the DE section of popular apps, and i had to add kwin-x11 afterwards (i remember having had to do that under MX17, too)
probably related to MX not installing recommended packages by default, but shouldn't it actually install them at least for those DE entries and perhaps all popular apps for a better noob experience (it should "just work")
MXPI could offer a toggle "install recommended packages" but then again users may not think of changing the default "off" setting ...

yep, its a real pain in the butt. the new lsb_release no longer sources /etc/lsb-release as it has in the past.

Question - but not really a problem.

Did anyone else find it a bit "odd" during install that the progress bar gets tp 90-something percent and then it looks like it just hangs until you read the bar which says it's waiting for user input, BUT you have to click the Next button to get to the screen where that input was needed? I think it happens twice. Wouldn't it make more sense to move to the screen where it's needed as well?

Or am I going crazy, missing something, or just plain stupid (all options are very possible).

you can keep clicking next while the copy is going on...no need to wait.

It is explained in the User Manual that you can input data and make selections whilst the installation is proceeding.

Whichever way you do it, there is always a delay at 95% when some configuration is taking place. This takes a bit of time on older hardware.

I used the latest installer version this morning, and when I tried to preserve Home it said it couldn't format the partition. When I unchecked the preserve box, no problem. This is the second time in the last 24 hrs. Is it just my machine (dual booting with W10)?
