In the usual MX installation I usually change the installation language to Spanish, but in the raspi it doesn't let me do the installation in English, if I try to add a new language I get this error:

Best regards
found the problem, should be fixed now in update.

I think we have to, especially if we are going to say the release is OK for Pi 4 users. 14 seconds to wait for a web browser to open would be frustrating; Chromium only takes 5.

Yes, though super annoying. I'm surprised that PAM doesn't have a fix for this

the trouble is that with autologin, the user never actually authenticates. if you don't autologin, no problem.

I'm going to be sending the updated desktop-defaults packages. alpha and beta users won't get the new package automatically, which is desktop-defaults-xfce-mx-desktop-rpi, but you will see updates to the existing metapackages, which won't actually do anything except bump version numbers, as they are identical to the ones we have currently. no need to remove the existing desktop-defaults-xfce-mx-desktop package, the new package will replace it and removal will be automatic. just wait for the metapackage desktop-defaultx-xfce-mx updates to show up and apply all updates before trying to install the new package.

and keep in mind that package only sets up defaults for new users. existing home folders are not touched.

I wonder how RPi gets around this, pretty sure I've never had to authenticate after autologin. Will check again

After testing I've decided to use raspi-config and cancel autologin.

ADD: maybe we should think about making that the default?

no autologin should be the defualt. you have to enable autologin in the user setup when you first launch the fresh image. I'll double check that.

you could also use mx-user for the same function.

You're right, of course. I must have ticked autologin in the Installer--and forgot that when thinking of the Chromium problem.

Pi 5 tests last night
Installed Thunderbird and set up my mxlinux.org account. All good.
Watched some music videos where the combination of the Pi 5's power, the neat little BT speaker Oontz Angle 3 and Chromium's setup made it very enjoyable.
