One idea:
@dolphin_oracle,
may I ask for input box in installer on encryption page, where I can input parameters to override encryption? Like encryption algo, keysize, hash algo, etc...
It would be nice if it shows actual encryption parameters (commandline args), and initially disabled, to not allow users to mess with it. Beside it the checkbox "allow finetuning of encryption. Only for advanced users.", which will enable the inputbox, making it editable.
It would be awesome to have it like that. I am sure there will be users grateful for that. Not everybody uses AES, and/or SHA512.
we used to have that, but in looking at a lot of log files, I don't think anyone actually used it, so it was removed. Probably not high on the list to add back, but we will keep it in mind.
These who have used it, were able to help themselves often, so did not post logs so frequently like newbies

I have repeated the installation process just with the change of filesystem to EXT4, encrypted, and Home on the root partition. All went well. I can attach the log, if needed, too. (Writing from another machine)
that would be great for comparison.
Here you are.

OK, I continued with the set-up and tweaking from last night.
That 3-D new logo looks good during the boot, I like how the back and leading edges are subtly out of focus, giving a nice 3D look, like it is something BIG.
All is running smoothly on this hard drive install. No problems so far, solid as beta1 as I reported earlier. A wonderful beta -AGAIN !
My list of post install tweaks is complete except for the final firefox tweaks.
Code: Select all
1. Enable my data disk in the disk manager
2. Change my wall paper
3. Fire up synaptic and load about 30 programs (adds to maybe 160 packages with all dependencies) Such as audacity, k3b, ksnip, bleachbit, ripperx, handbrake, scid, stockfish, eboard, espeak....I really should automate this with aptik ! Still need fsearch and warpinator, but these will come when the release settles.
4. Run synaptic to get all updates
5.Widen the panel, change the clock so it shows seconds
6. Install the NVidia driver with the MX Package Installer
7. Switch conky to the modified antiX conky
8. Set up a desktop short cut to the data drive
9. Run bleachbit to clear all the post install stuff out
10. Reboot and test stability after all the up dates
11. Configure Firefox, set home page to duckduckgo, set downloads to go to a folder on the data drive, import bookmarks, add noscript
12. Disable sudo -MX Tweak > Other tab > radial button at the bottom labeled accordingly
13. In power management set so no log-in is required from suspend
14. MX Tweak-enable compton compositing, and select MX comfort theme with thick boarders
15. set swappiness =1
16. Set terminal opacity to 99
All on this:

@siamhie Yes back to apt for default: we've had too many reports of lengthy hangups.
I don't know about changing the window size but it would be nice: it swamps my 1366x768 testing screen.

so if I understand correctly you specified both a swap partition an a swapfile during installation, but only the swapfile was created/used?
yes, the swap partition was like the EFI were shown in the partition window so I don't touch them. The efi were used, the swap not.
