Re: Add your vote for MX ..
Some would consider opening a thread about the competition on the distribution's forum to garner extra votes to be cheating in itself.

Re: Add your vote for MX ..
Looking at the MX vote increase frequency, as I said earlier 10 votes per hour, no cheating is there. What was good and has given nice number of votes (currently 521), to have this thread visible in "Newest Posts" column. Those distros with high vote number in such short time, some type of advertisement most likely is there.
Re: Add your vote for MX ..
Yes, some of the distros have gathered thousands of votes in only three days - looks very suspicious to me!
And IIRC those thousands were there even on the first day...

Can anybody explain the mystery of this apparently dishonest article?
m_pav, you pointed to it - any clues?

I don't know where you all see the number of votes so far. This election is a sham.

Re: Add your vote for MX ..
It's a reasonable measure of how many fanbois distros have. Certainly not a measure of quality or even just number of users. In the 2018 poll, PCLinuxOS had more votes than Ubuntu. A handful of PCLos users must have spent a lot of time casting multiple votes.
I'd guess cookies are the only means of checking if someone has voted from a particular computer. Surely they could set it up to only allow one vote per IP address.

Re: Add your vote for MX ..
There is nothing reasonable about it. It is a measure of how many individuals can vote for the same distro as many times as they can or want to. An individual can vote once or more than once. All what this election is to give the illusion of distros ranking the same as like the rankings on Distrowatch. It's a Fantasy-land election for fun. Enjoy and have fun.sunrat wrote: ↑Thu Jan 30, 2020 2:43 amIt's a reasonable measure of how many fanbois distros have. Certainly not a measure of quality or even just number of users.
